Met zo veel culturen onder één dak kan men in ieder geval zeggen dat er geen gebrek is aan verscheidenheid en een dynamische sfeer. Het is interessant hoe mensen met zulke verschillende gewoontes toch op de één of andere manier leren om samen te kunnen leven. Ik heb geleerd dat eten, net zoals muziek, echt iets is wat de kracht heeft om mensen van de hele wereld samen te brengen. Ik heb in mijn tijd bij Australiawide Student Accommodation het genoegen gehad om gerechten van elk continent te proeven (ik ga dan ook een paar kilo zwaarder naar huis – maar dat was het zeker waard!). Er zweven zo rond de lunch en tijdens het avondeten meestal verschillende exostische geuren door de lucht... dit zorgt natuurlijk vaak voor een tijdelijke afleiding van je studie – en de keuken is echt een plek waar men elkaar goed leert kennen. Al met al een fantastische ervaring die ik elke internationale student erg aan zou kunnen raden!

With so many different cultures under one roof you can definitely say that there is no lack of diversity & a dynamic atmosphere. It is interesting how people with such different habits still manage to find a way to live together so succesfully. I learned that food, just like music, has the power to unite people from all over the world. During my stay at Australiawide Student Accommodation I had the pleasure of tasting dishes from each continent (although I am going home a few kilos heavier – it was well worth it!). Around lunch and dinner-time the most exotic fragrances float through the air... this of course always led to a temporary distraction from my studies – and the kitchen is really a place where we got to know one another very well. On the whole it was a fantastic experience that I would strongly recommend to any international student!
